 Seriously, Why didn’t someone think about this earlier? A cigar humidor you don’t need to season? Now I’m all for tradition and granted, I think there’s a little bit to be said about the ceremonial seasoning of the cigar humidor as you prepare it to house your treasured selection of stogies. With that said I’m a busy guy, if I’m not out of town traveling on business I’m running around researching new products, working at the shop or busy with life. I don’t always have time to check the humidity in my humidor and for some reason this job is about as high on my wife’s list as taking care of the ragged dog I brought into the relationship from my ex. That’s where the Monolith humidor comes in.
Released in March of 2010 by Quality Importers, the Monolith humidor is the cigar connoisseurs best friend. With a regulated temperature range between 41 degrees and 71 degrees F and a humidity range between 50% to 80% you can dial in to your hearts content. Just get a shipment of stogies in and worried that they got a little dried out on the journey to your front porch? No problem, just dial up the humidity for a day to 80% and pump in some extra humidity. Going out of town and worried about the possibility of a cigar bug or two ruining your entire collection while you’re gone? No problem, just dial down the temperature to 55 to keep them at bay.
The Monolith 1200c Cigar Humidor holds up to 1200 cigars respectively, (good job cigar humidor naming guys, keep up the hard work) but obviously if you’re smoking 60 gauge monsters then this number will vary a bit. The humidor has a glass front to show off those fancy CAO labels to all your buddies and features either 2 or 4 slide out Spanish cedar drawers. Both feature a fixed shelf on the bottom which is perfect for a full box or two of smokes. There’s not a whole lot of cedar in this unit but who needs it with the built in Hydra humidification technology.
One of the cool James Bond features is the blue glow ambient light that makes your pool room feel like the red light district in the evening. The finish is a beautiful piano black and both units feature an advanced locking mechanism to keep those pesky friends and children away from your prized smokes.
Pros: First truly maintenance free humidor. Sleek modern style that even the wife loves. Time proven integrated Hydra technology.
Cons: We would have liked to see an option for an water line-in option but hey, we’re picky. Would have also like to see a dim feature on the LED.
